Ok.. I waited for this very day to write this post as it’s exactly one year since the post I wrote about my goals for the year 2007…
So how has 2007 been for me? Well let’s revisit that very post dated 9 Jan 2007…Orginal post in Italics with comments in normal font..
Well.. here’s an initial list of things I hope to achieve by the end of this year… pray that they will all come to pass..
1. Do well for SOT.
Well.. thank God I did pretty well. It’s nothing short of a miracle… with an 80-something percent overall.. Pretty good I have to say.. like my best results since PSLE!
2. Improve on my bass.
Yup.. Improved.. Thank God that last year was the year that I really grew by leaps and bounds as a musician and a bassist…
3. Get a new bass (Musicman or Lakland) (then again.. it’s my wish every 6mths or so..)
Got my beloved Lakland… what shall I hope for this year?
4. Get my driving license.. it’s been 3 long years in the making already.
Erm.. make that 4 long years in the making.. Must get this year man…
5. Go for at least one mission trip.
Praise God.. went for 2. Sitiawan and Batam Emerge.. praying that I can go for more this year…
6. Learn to forgive and forget certain people.
Forgiven and Forgotten…
7. Play for Chinese Church conference or big day.
Thank God this came true also.. Played for Pst Peter Chu’s conference.
8. Lose weight.. yes.. stop laughing…
Yes Lost. Lost but gained back thanks to steroids… so will wanna lose yet again for sure.. this time won’t gain back…
9. HOPEFULLY…. can play for Emerge or service at least once by the time I write this next year..
The most amazing one.. Ok I didn’t get to play for Emerge, but I played for main service in Expo for two weeks and now more than that, I’m one of the regular bassists for the new Jurong West service! More than what I hoped for…
10. Find a girlfriend… but this one really no hurry..

This is gonna be a breakthrough year!
Truly indeed 2007 was a breakthrough year. Thank God that I grew by a lot during my time in SOT and throughout the whole year in my ministry from starting to play for Chinese Church in Feb to playing for the main service towards the end of last year. The many opportunities to serve in SOT and even on the mission field really helped me a lot. Thank God for that… So, what do I hope to achieve in the year 2008? Well, thank God by His grace, 8 out of the 10 goals I set last year came to pass.. but these are rather “achievement” in nature.. this year I really wanna focus on changing my inner self.. plus to carry forward some of those “missed” goals last year… so in 2008, these are my goals…
1. I want to expand and grow in my spiritual capacity.
I feel the need to really expand myself more to be able to serve up to the level of expectation on the Main Service level. Of course I have to grow in my musicianship but there needs to be an increase in my spiritual capacity. This is playing for service, not a gig.
2. I want to work on my confidence level.
Seriously, this has always been one of my biggest struggles, be in as a person or in my playing. Been feeling a bit scared whenever I play during service so that’s something I need to overcome.
3. Stop “Hai-ing” so much.
4. Stop being so negative, especially about myself. Links to point 2 as well…
5. Lose weight.
6. Finally get my license.
7. I’m like 26 this year so starting to feel a bit pressure especially everyone around me is attached. Or married. So yes, pray that I can be attached this year.
8. Do well in school.
9. Visit Japan. Be it for missions or what.
10. Start earning money.
Right.. that should be it for now… God I lift up these 10 goals to You. I pray that like 2007, 2008 will be my best year yet! Amen!
