It’s the “WHOOOOOO..” Week!
Posted in Blog on February 26th, 2007 by MervynWhat a week. Really find myself serving more and more. Played for Chinese Service for the 5th week in a row.. and I probably will be playing for the next 2 weeks so its 7 weeks straight. Tired, yes. But I feel satisfied/fulfilled. People always ask, “You spend so much time playing music for the church, they got pay you or not?” Erm… like not everything is about the money. When it’s your passion, your commitment, your conviction, your vision, your calling, your destiny, I’ll gladly pay to be able to serve. And pay we must. None of the people you see serving in the more “up there” places in the church haven’t paid yet. You just gotta pay the price. It’s not just simply going there and see/ observe once or twice and think that it’s way too easy for you and PRESUME that you can do anything they throw are you. Think again.
A simple G Em C D progression may be the most basic and simplest progresion but let two different musicians play. One who has paid the price and another who treats things too lightly (e.g “Aiyah, it’s only G Em C D lor”. The one who paid the price could make you go “woah” (cue the Eigene woah action) and touch you greatly. The other will make you go “Erm” and annoy you greatly. Point is “the price” has to be paid. Whatever your price is. Nothing great/miraculous has ever been achieved without paying the price. Jesus paid our ultimate price for us. It was something great, something miraculous.
Anyway, it’s been a great week of serving for me. After the CNY holidays it was back to work this week. Played in the Chinese Church Performance. Went quite well. Will be performing in Expo next week. Yay.
Got a chance to share the stage with Taiwanese Pop Star Liu Geng Hong and his guitarist and bassist, Wing and Matt. Real cool guys. They are truly the shakers of the music industry in Taiwan. Why? Cos they are all really great song writers and they’ve wrote songs that really can engage culture. Liu Geng Hong and Wing are releasing their albums soon. Above all that, they are still hot on fire for God. Yeah. That’s the way it should be.

That’s me (with my new Lakland baby. Big time blessing. Long story.) and Matt. Real cool guy. Wrote a punk rock song for his church’s Arise and Build campaign.

That’s Liu Geng Hong and his team with the Singers and Musos after Chinese Service. The moment Pst Tan said that they can all take pics with him, the crowd all just ran up the stage..hence that random girl standing behind me. Haha.
